Girl Who Got Away

After a four-year hiatus, Dido is back with her fourth studio album, Girl Who Got Away. This 11-track album showcases Dido’s soft, yet powerful vocals and contains songs of hope, defiance and heartbreak. Dido has always had a knack for painting a picture with words and this album is no different.

The album opener, “No Freedom,” is filled with warmth and feelings of love. On the opposite end of the scale, “End of Night” evokes feelings of indifference and even hatred. This is evident when she sings, “I feel nothing when you cry. I hear nothing, see no need to reply. I can smile now and turn away. Come over here so you can see me walk away.”

Other notable tracks include “Sitting on the Roof of the World,” “Loveless Hearts” and “Day Before We Went to War.” An interesting addition to the album is the duet Dido does with rapper Kendrick Lamar on “Let Us Move On.”  –Jennifer Sobek
