KMFDM
Kunst
Metropolis

KMFDM doesn’t offer anything new on their latest album Kunst, but it doesn’t need to. The band continues it’s persistent onslaught of hard-hitting industrial rock with mostly solid results. The pulsating beats and jagged guitar riffs of the title track and the industrial keyboard fervor of “Ave Maria” are highlights, while they pay a tribute to the jailed Russian feminist punk trio, Pussy Riot, on the song of the same name. Not everything connects as some songs like “Pseudocide” and “The Mess You Made” lack the fire and tenacity of earlier work, while “I <3 Not” is downright silly. But more often than not, Kunst delivers; and at this stage of the career, KMFDM continue to provide more hits than misses to keep their storied catalogue intact without diluting it – Jeff Noller.
