Otherwise, an up-and-coming band from Las Vegas started the night off.  If you haven’t heard of Otherwise yet, let me tell you, you will soon.  Fronted by Vegas native Adrian Patrick on vocals and his brother Ryan on guitar, this band is definitely going places and quickly.  Their album True Love Never Diesis selling like hotcakes and they are building up quite a fan base wherever they stop.

Also hailing from Sin City is Escape The Fate who has quite a fan base of their own as they bang out hits like “Ungrateful,” “You’re Insane,” and “Situations,” these boys came to rock!  Making my way through the crowd, I heard “These guys can really play” on more than one occasion.

During the intermission, chants of “Papa Roach, Papa Roach” echoed through the venue from the now capacity crowd in anticipation of the night’s headliner.  Taking the stage with their hit “Still Swingin” from their latest album, The Connection, Jacoby Shaddix and crew were firing on all cylinders right from the get-go!  One thing about Jacoby, he really knows how to work the crowd, feeding off their energy.  He even made a run through the pit area fist bumping every fan within reach.  Pulling off classics such as “Last Resort,” “Time And Time Again,” and “Getting Away With Murder” Jacoby’s voice was in tip-top shape!

The highlight of the night came when a young couple who traveled all the way from Australia to see Papa Roach for the first time was brought up on stage halfway through the set to be introduced for their dedication to the band.  Right in front of the capacity crowd, the gentleman got down on one knee and proposed to his love.  She said “Yes”, of course!  How could she not with all this powerful energy flowing through the air!

It was just as I had envisioned in my album review of The Connection several months ago, thousands of fans head-banging to “Where Did The Angels Go” with horns held high! It is clearly evident that Papa Roach is on top of their game, perhaps the height of their careers.  They gave the fans what they paid for, a kick-ass rock show, leaving everything on stage. –Christopher Zambello
