I came into this album with an open mind, not totally sure what to expect.  Knowing that Dave Grohl, who in my mind is the most powerful individuals in music today, is the backbone of this album and the associated movie I was hoping for something special. With an all-star cast of amazing, experienced musicians and singers, the creativity should be infinite.

Penned by Nicks, Grohl, & Taylor Hawkins, “You Can’t Fix This” is brilliantly done, showcasing Nicks’ unmistakable voice the way it deserves to be; uncluttered and without distractions.  Grohl keeps a steady beat while the guitars complete the puzzle with all the pieces fitting together perfectly – this would be my definition of recording perfection.  “Cut Me Some Slack” with Paul McCartney on vocals again is very well done with nothing overshadowing Sir Paul’s voice.  It’s a little edgier than some may be used to with a McCartney tune but I gotta admit, Paul rocks it!  He does not sound out of place, in fact it’s clearly evident that he’s enjoying himself and even lets out a nice scream at the end.

The most modern sounding track comes from the power ballad “From Can To Can’t” featuring Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor. The albums closing track, “Mantra” is another can’t miss. Again, Grohl on the drums sets the stage for the rest of the pieces to carefully follow suit.  Their creativity really shines on this song as it is different than anything I’ve heard before.  Changing speeds, it keeps your attention and anticipation like a roller coaster ride; starting off slowly, climbing up that big hill until becoming weightless. All in all, this album is history folks; rarely do you ever get this much talent collaborated into one album so definitely it would be something to add to your collection. – Chris Zambello
