The Band Perry
Pioneer
Republic Nashville

The Band Perry returned recently with their sophomore effort, Pioneer. The 12-track album is by far one of the best new releases I’ve heard in recent months.

After hearing Pioneer’s first single, “Better Dig Two,” I was eager to hear more. Their sound is wonderfully harmonizing, strong and fun. The lyrics are full of heartfelt emotions and vocalist Kimberly Perry shows her vocal strength as she effortless tackles the ballads and country-rock tunes throughout the disc. The Band Perry showcases their country roots throughout the album, which is evident by the moving strings, melodic banjos and brilliant harmonization. Stand out tracks include “Done,” “Don’t Let Me Be Lonely,” “Pioneer,” “I Saw a Light” and “Mother Like Mine.”

If given the chance, pick up the Deluxe Version of the album for the outstanding four extra tracks. Overall,  Pioneer, is a must-have for your music collection if you love new country. –Jennifer Sobek
