The Misfits
Dea.d. Alive

Misfits Records

The Misfits continue their fiendish rule with their live album, Dea.d. Alive. Recorded in the center of Times Square in New York on All Hallows’ Eve of 2012, the Misfits unleashed their ghoulish persona unto the masses. Their raw live performances of the 14-track album are proof that The Misfits’ legacy lives on.

The first seven songs are from their 2011 album The Devil’s Rain, while the next five and last song are from their Michale Graves’ days 1997’s American Psycho and 1999’s Famous Monsters, respectively.

At times, the drums and backing music seem to almost drown out Jerry Only’s vocals, but you can still hear his gritty and ghoulish sound. I was a bit disappointed, however, that Graves did not return for this show to sing the songs from the albums he was a part of.

It was entertaining to hear some of the Misfits newer songs, thoroughly enjoying “The Devil’s Run,” “Curse of the Mummy’s Hand” and “Dark Shadows.” But I am still partial to the Graves era songs, including “Dig Up Her Bones” and “American Psycho.” As far as live albums go, Dea.d. Alive is a great listen. –Jennifer Sobek
