Independent festival producer Danny Wimmer Presents, the City Of Jacksonville and SMG are happy to announce that in order to accommodate the increased demand for Monster Energy Welcome To Rockville tickets, this year’s festival will be expanding into a portion of the EverBank Field grounds.

To facilitate festival attendees’ movement between Metropolitan Park and EverBank Field, Gator Bowl Blvd. will be closed at the boundary of Lot TT from 6:00 PM Friday, April 24 until 2:00 AM Monday, April 27.

The new scenario will expand the festival’s capacity 25%, from 40,000 to 50,000, over the two-day event. The lineup for the fifth annual Monster Energy Welcome To Rockville, held April 25 & 26 at Jacksonville, Florida‘s scenic Metropolitan Park along the St. Johns River, includes SlipknotKorn, GodsmackMarilyn MansonSlayerMinistrySlash featuring Myles Kennedy and The ConspiratorsBreaking BenjaminPapa RoachHalestormThe Pretty RecklessOf Mice & Men, and many more.

Says Danny Wimmer Presents CEO Danny Hayes, “This year’s Rockville will be the largest yet, with a 25% increase in sales from last year’s record attendance. We are so appreciative of Mayor Brown’s support and leadership in expanding this festival into EverBank Field. I believe this is the first step in unlocking Monster Energy Welcome To Rockville’s full potential.”

“Jacksonville is looking forward to another great Welcome To Rockville,” said Mayor Brown. “By expanding its footprint in Downtown Jacksonville, fans will have an even bigger and better experience. Rockvillebrings thousands Downtown every year and helps solidify our reputation as a premier destination for top-quality entertainment events.”

Visit Jacksonville reported that the 2014 Monster Energy Welcome To Rockville generated nearly $10.3 million in visitor spending, showing the growing strength of the event in driving tourism to the city. According to research funded by Visit Jacksonville and conducted by a research team from the University of North Florida (UNF), an estimated 25,500 of the 40,000 concert attendees were from locations outside of Duval County – which represents 70 percent of total attendees at the sold-out weekend rock festival.

The expansion into EverBank Field also led to a new partnership with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Says DWP’s head of marketing Clay Busch, “We are thrilled to have the Jags participating in Rockville as we continue to expand the festival’s offerings into sports and food.” SMG Jacksonville manages EverBank Field, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars, on behalf of the City of JacksonvilleMonster Energy Welcome To Rockville’s relationship with SMG and the Jacksonville Jaguars includes hosting various onsite activities during the festival, as well as the Ultimate Rock-N-Jock Experience contest.
